About the IDSA Foundation The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) Foundation is on a mission to reduce the burdens of infectious diseases. All of us are vulnerable to infectious diseases (ID), from drug-resistant superbugs to the next influenza pandemic. Job Summary The Executive Director will provide visionary leadership to drive all fundraising and programmatic efforts for our Foundation, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors to instill philanthropy as a core value of the organization. The Executive Director will oversee related programs and operations. The ideal candidate understands the culture of IDSA and the IDSA Foundation (values, history, culture, programs, constituencies, and governance structure), secures the trust of the CEO, Board members and funders and builds strong relationships to ensure success. The Executive Director will create and maintain a sustainable development framework. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success meeting fundraising goals and budgets. Essential Responsibilities Develop and maintain a strategic fundraising and stewardship framework Cultivate, solicit and maintain a portfolio of corporate and individual prospective donors Ensure the identification, cultivation, recruitment, and development of fundraising volunteers and leadership Ensure development of a balanced funding mix of progressive solicitation programs tailored to the needs of the Foundation that will enable it to attract, retain, and motivate donors and fundraising volunteers Establish performance measures and ensure ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the Foundation's programs Ensure sound fiscal operations including timely, accurate, and comprehensive income and expense budgets and forecasts Ensure the development of proposals and solicitation materials Oversee the design and maintenance of donor and prospect systems, gift management systems, and informational reports; oversee the design and implementation of cultivation, acknowledgment, and recognition programs Represent the Foundation at formal and informal engagements to help advance organizational objectives Ensure sound fundraising infrastructure, processes and systems to manage the workflow of the department Ensure effective development and execution of Foundation programs Provide leadership and management to staff Adhere to the highest ethical standards in management, governance and fund development Travel up to 40 percent Other Responsibilities Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications and Experience Strong cultivator of relationships Relevant experience in fields such as health care, medical, science, or diseases is ideal; experience working in an association environment is preferred Experience implementing and managing a comprehensive fund development program and producing charitable contributions. A Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification, or similar, is preferred Track record of securing gifts of multiple types (individual, major, etc.) and at all levels; experience soliciting gifts from donors such as physicians, pharmaceutical companies, and/or charitable foundations Ability to manage through ambiguity and develop systems and processes Experience working with fundraising databases and tracking tools is required Required Skills Sound and comprehensive leadership and management skills including, but not limited to, short and long-term planning operations management fundraising campaign management process management leading and motivating staff oral and written communication financial management and governance Direct Reports Senior Fundraising Manager Program Manager Stewardship and Engagement Manager Part-time Office Assistant We are an equal opportunity employer.
