TISTA Science and Technology is seeking Data Engineers to join our growing team using groundbreaking cloud and big data technologies. These Data Engineers will collaborate with data scientists from prominent ivy league institutions to identify user needs, find solutions, and take our products from concept to launch. We have Mid, Senior and Lead roles available. Responsibilities Excepted to provide hands on software development for a large data project, hosted in a cloud environment Provide architectural support and oversight to projects within a team Provide expertise in the development of estimates for EPICs and User Stories for planning and execution Be able to help others break down large team goals into specific and manageable tasks Be involved and supportive of agile sprint model of development, helping to enforce the practice and the discipline Be a mentor to junior and mid-level engineers Enforce high-quality coding standards and practices via reviews and by demonstrating this in their own work Able to work efficiently and proactively across engineering teams to enable us to deliver on our goals of loosely coupled, adaptable, scalable solutions Able to perform as an effective member of a geographically dispersed team across multiple time-zones Have a good understanding of where their project fits into the larger goals for engineering and adapts their work so that the priorities of the systems they are creating match those of the organization Qualifications 5 + years of experience with object oriented programming, Java preferred Scripting experience with any of the follow languages Python, Unix Shell Scripting, Perl, or Ruby Experience with one or more software version control systems (eg Git, Subversion) Experience software development on a team using Agile methodology Familiarity with DevOps tools and techniques (eg continuous integration, Jenkins, Puppet, etc) Preferred experience with AWS including EC2, RedShift, EMR, SC3, Cloudformation and more Preferred experience with big data technologies, Spark or Hadoop Experience with Parquet files and SQL Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field Clearance Ability to obtain a Public Trust Location Remote TISTA is an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action employer.
