Summary

This position is located within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Office of Policy, this position you will perform the following duties:

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs a staff of policy analysts and support personnel;
  • Responsible for policy planning and development, including performing policy research and analysis on ICE law enforcement, immigration, and administrative issues and providing policy recommendations;
  • Participates fully with ICE senior leadership and other ICE executives in meetings, conferences, and national and international symposia to address and resolve major controversial policy matters;
  • Drafts and critically reviews proposed policies, legislation, and regulations impacting agency wide programs and operations including those involving broad national and international level law enforcement and immigration policy; and
  • Oversee the administrative aspects of various work projects, including reporting on the status of projects, allocating and using both monetary and staff resources, and planning resource needs for the projected work.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the federal service, performing duties such as:
  • Conducting and leading comprehensive special studies, personally or through team members, providing assessments, evaluations, and recommending on new and proposed policy initiatives;
  • Developing new policies based on the results of studies and reviews;
  • Analyzing, developing, and reviewing a variety of technical and controversial reports submitted by organization which involve significant policy issues; and
  • Carrying out the full range of policy review, processes and activities to complete each phase of assignments and projects

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Your qualifications will be evaluated based on your responses to the online assessments completed during the application process.
