Incumbent servesas the hospital's key proponent in the establishment and maintenanceof patient safety programs, incorporating extensive knowledge ofprofessional nursing programs and guidelines.Parking at WRNMMC is very limited, use of commuting alternatives ishighly recommended.Learn more about this agency Responsibilities- As a Nurse (Consultant/Patient Safety) you will establish andmaintain patient safety programs, incorporating knowledge ofprofessional nursing programs and guidelines.- Function as an integral part of the quality assurance (QA)process, organizing staff activities to ensure compliance withall aspects of appropriate regulations.- Analyze Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) patient demographicsand outcome data related to pressure ulcers, restraint use,patient falls, ventilator associated pneumonia, central lineinfection, medication errors, and other patient safety data.- Identify areas for systems improvement, construct reports basedon collected data, and provide education to sites regardingappropriate use of data collection methodology.- Evaluate educational processes and optimize process improvementthrough analysis of clinical outcomes data, National PatientSafety Goal (NPSG) metrics, and patient safety data.- Design and implement audit mechanism to monitor compliance withnewly defined standardized approaches to NPSG compliance.- Interface with Department of Defense (DoD) personnel and otherMTFs, installations, and agencies regarding patient safety.Develop new methodologies to meet dynamic safety program needsthat remain compatible with all user priorities.- Serve as nursing consultant interfacing with technical andprofessional personnel from all Services concerning Team STEPPStraining program, root cause analysis (RCA) review, sentineleven reporting, data quality, and data applicability concerns.- Provide clinical review of MTF-specific RCA documents, ensuringclinical congruency, completeness, thoroughness, credibility,and logical flow.
