The Role: Sales Executive, US Government, Strategic Defense and Intelligence Based in Washington DC, the Sales Executive will expand existing engagements and establish new customers as Planet Federal continues to grow sales pertaining to our US Federal Government market plan. The ideal candidate will understand the US Federal Government requirements for commercial imagery, enjoy navigating the government's acquisition process and thrive in parsing the competitive landscape. In this role, you should excel through collaboration and love the creativity required to grow into new market segments. This person will have a strong business acumen that accompanies deep knowledge of US Federal Government agencies. You'll be joining a team focused on the US Federal Government segments: Defense and Intelligence and a rich ecosystem of partners. You will identify, qualify, negotiate, and close large-scale complex deals and drive sales revenue targets. Your primary focus will be to develop an extensive pipeline of new sales leads, provide product and sales demonstrations to prospective customers, and formulate appropriate business relationships with accounts. Role Responsibilities: Prospect and develop business relationships, close sales, and manage customer expectations as the company grows. Identify channel and reseller relationships to expand market presence, seek out new partnerships as needed. Where needed, lead proposal generation, building on your experience in managing proposal teams in response to large US Government RFPs Manage pricing work as needed. Sales operations duties as required. Collaborate with Sales team in fostering customer relationships Engage qualified prospects and take them through the journey of identifying a fit for Planet solutions and negotiating through agreement/contract/procurement obstacles to achieve an ultimate win. Manage the contracting and Federal procurement process. Work closely with our post sales organization and customer success team to ensure a successful onboarding for new customers. Work closely with pre-sales staff to ensure a cohesive effort is put forth when demonstrating Planet products and services and achieving a technical win. Work aggressively to develop the adequate sales pipeline needed to achieve or exceed your sales targets and goals. Maintain a strong level of pipeline hygiene using Salesforce.com Collaborate and innovate as needed to create customer-facing presentations and proposals unique to the prospect and situation. Required Professional Experience: Active Security Clearance Bachelor's Degree or commensurate professional experience Demonstrated success finding and winning business with US Federal Government customers Deep understanding of the value of commercial imagery in support of the US Federal Government's mission Excellent relationships across US Federal Government and the partner ecosystem 12+ years of related experience in geospatial software, imagery or technical sales required along with a demonstrated track record of success 12+ years' experience selling to government customers including understanding the nuances of US Federal Government sales cycles and how to navigate through the process Ability to forecast accurately and manage a pipeline of opportunities Ability to source, sell, co-sell, and close large deals; carrying quota and closing should be familiar concepts Ability to do deep discovery and build relationships to enable negotiations regarding variations in prices, delivery and customer specifications to their managers Excellent communication skills, preference for candidates that are bi-lingual Self-starter, able to work independently under tight deadlines in start-up environment Strong judgment and decision-making skills Negotiation and persuasion skills Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills Experience with Salesforce.com or a similar CRM System Some press about us: Our CEO, Will Marshall's Dreamforce Talk "Tiny Satellites ushering in the New Space Revolution" Bloomberg Businessweek "The All-Seeing Eye in the Sky video" Bloomberg Businessweek video "Planet And Rocket Lab Create Mission Patch To Honor Women In Aerospace" -Planet Blog Join Us: We are committed to building a diverse team and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.
