A construction law firm in Alexandria, VA is looking for an associate to help with its growing caseload. The practice is focused on commercial and local government construction projects (including sports stadiums, hospitals, airports, hotels, and schools). Work involves contract review and negotiation and helping clients resolve claims during and after project completion. Disputes generally involve delay, disruption, and design and construction defect claims. Insurance coverage experience is a plus. Candidate must be curious about technical issues and be willing to delve into cost accounting issues. *Annual salary range is $85-115k commensurate with experience. Medical Insurance included. Requirements: Negotiate agreements with key personnel, executives, or opposing counsel. Provide advice and counsel concerning contractual rights and obligations, potential liability, advisability, analysis of risk and interpreting terms and conditions with regard to proposed and concluded transactions, including pre- and post-closing requirements. Maintain a thorough understanding of industry trends and business needs, ensuring contractual provisions are sufficient to meet such needs. Communicate and summarize key contractual requirements and potential risks to key stakeholders. Draft, review and negotiate a variety of agreements encountered in a transactional or commercial context. Utilize a deep understanding of both the legal and business landscape relating to proposed commercial transactions to handle or assist with legal escalations. Maintain and revise template agreements and contracts playbooks, as required. Draft and negotiate agreements in compliance with client or company policies, playbooks, and business needs. Qualifications: Must be admitted to practice law in Virginia OR Maryland. Must have 2-4 years of experience in Construction Litigation. Expertise in Commercial Litigation, Construction, Construction Defects, Insurability, and Contract Drafting is required.
