Overview: Our Technical Security System (TSS) Design Engineer's role and responsibilities are to provide a complete engineering package for the TSS equipment supporting both National and International Operations Centers. The Engineer should have sufficient knowledge of each technical security system and its applications. The Engineer must be familiar with customer constraints and standards to ensure compliance. Work Environment: Full-time 40 hour week when assigned to a domestic location. Full-time 60 hour week when deployed overseas. Travel: This position requires approximately 25% travel to various overseas locations over a calendar year. Domestic travel may be required for training and coordination. Work Location: Alexandria, VA. Citizenship/Passport/Security Clearance: The candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance. Responsibilities: Conduct technical security assessments and recommend security upgrades. Identify security risks, analyze those risks, and specify system requirements and procedural measures to ensure the integrity of stand-alone computers and network information systems. Produce a variety of written documents including memoranda, trip reports, telegraphic communications with posts; and engineering surveys or service reports detailing specific engineering services planned or performed. Extensive worldwide travel required to service our international customers. Specify, design, procure, install equipment or products for technical security and information technology systems, such as: Technical systems/closed-circuit television, intrusion detection and alarms, locking devices, access control and denial systems, countermeasures equipment, and acoustic/RF attenuation technologies. Computer systems/encryption, firewalls, forensics, network intrusion monitoring, and system security audit products. Engage in work that can on occasion be physically demanding. Provide expert consulting services on new product developments and technological applications in the market. Maintain an expert level knowledge of installed base products and strive to sustain and improve the current technical security capabilities. Possess direct working knowledge of computer systems, computer security, and familiarity with operating systems, hardware platforms, and networks. Education: BS/BA in related discipline or advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related disciplines include: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Electromechanical Engineering. Basic Qualification: Three to five years of current experience in conducting technical security assessments, product evaluations, performing technical needs assessments and recommending security upgrades. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS, MS Office, Visio, and Auto CADD. Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment while handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain a rapport and professional working relationships. Excellent writing and verbal skills Must be able to obtain and maintain a class 1 medical clearance prior to deployment and is a condition of continued employment. Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. To obtain a security clearance requires candidate to be a US citizen.
