Experienced direct support professional needed to make his or her home with three men in Silver Spring, Maryland..Working with the other staff, the counselor is responsible for helping the men run their household on the weekends and ensuring that people's needs are met, making sure the men get out and have an active and fun social life, ensuring customer service and communicating with families and other entities. Jubilee offers a part times benefit package including health, dental and life insurance;, retirement; paid training; annual, sick and holiday pay; vacation reimbursement, and more.The schedule for this position is:Every other Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am-11:00 pm Duties:1. Operation of the home: Assist residential counselor live in facilitate systems and routines for grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, maintenance, house finances, etc., and ensure these tasks are completed.2. Direct care of daily needs: Oversee needs, including: nutrition, dressing appropriately, personal hygiene, medical needs and follow-up, transportation, recreational and leisure activities, social or other special services needed. Monitor these areas, be aware of the individual residents' needs and abilities and give training, supervision and aid when and where necessary.3. Teaching: Help develop Individual Plans (IPs) by filling out and gathering assessment materials. Recommend goal areas; implement and document outcomes according to the IP.4. Community Contacts: Assist people to have full, active social lives and to spend time with people who are important to them. Facilitate participation in their faith community, activity groups, civic associations, and informal community connections. Promote contact with and serve as a liaison with families and place of employment. Teach social and personal relationship skills, eg making introductions, staying in touch with loved ones, remembering birthdays, making a date with friends. Assist in accessing recreational and leisure facilities in the community.5. Record Keeping: Keep accurate and timely records, eg online timekeeping, IP outcomes, daily online progress notes, petty cash, medications, vehicle logs, finances, etc.6. Assessing, Counseling and Advising: Advise clients about their rights, counsel, advocate on their behalf.7. Staff Development and Team Involvement: Complete required training by due dates. Attend and participate in team and agency events, including house meetings, monthly team meetings, monthly Agency-Wide meetings, including spring and fall day retreats.8. Implement the Association's goals; communicate and exemplify Jubilee Association policies and values in interactions with residents and all other work activities.Requirements:1. Minimum of a high school diploma.2. Two years of experience providing community-based supports for people who have developmental disabilities, preferably including some experience with dementia.3. Clean driving record (2 or fewer minor moving violations in the last 3 years) and at least three years driving experience.4. Intermediate computer skills, excellent organizational skills and follow-through, good interpersonal and relationship-building skills.This is a full-time position that starts at 13.00/hour.Jubilee is a faith-based organization connected to the Hyattsville Mennonite Church.
