Responsibilities

  • Serves as the focal point for both intra- and inter-agency coordination and consultation, including serving as an effective HHS representative for policy-level meetings at the Department of State and U.S. Embassies.
  • Directs OGA staff support to achieve the foregoing, forming, participating in and leading teams to manage particular programs and to fulfill specific work requirements.
  • Directs various interagency and intra-agency committees to further the Department's involvement in global health activities.
  • Serves as a HHS point of contact for the Pan American Health Organization {PAHO) Deputy Director and Director for development and implementation of PAHO's U.S. Biennial Work plan and other programmatic activities related to the OGA and HHS Operations/Staff Divisions.

Qualifications

Candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:1)coordinating and leading policy initiatives across international organizations relevant to health, science, or human service programs; and 2) leading negotiations and consensus-building efforts within a bilateral and multilateral setting.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
