The Director of Academic Nursing Development is responsible for the development and implementation of AACN’s Leadership Portfolio and all related initiatives. Oversees learning opportunities for member deans, faculty, and staff, including webinars, online learning opportunities, and select AACN Conferences, including the Fall Academic Nursing Leadership Development Conference, Spring Deans Annual Meeting, and Summer Seminar.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversees the development and implementation of the AACN’s Leadership Portfolio (AACNLEADS) which includes the new dean program, coaching and mentoring initiatives, aspiring leader program, experienced dean program, and Executive Development Series for deans and faculty.
- Works with the AACN Program Committee to develop the programming for the Summer Seminar, Academic Nursing Leadership Conference, and Deans Annual Meeting.
- Recommends content and speakers for member-focused webinars and online education modules. Provides oversight for the development of e-learning opportunities that align with AACN’s strategic priorities, including the new dean module series.
- Oversees work to ensure strong engagement with faculty constituents, including resources and content for AACN’s Faculty Link Newsletter and the online community, AACN Connect.
- Works on other strategic initiatives and priorities, which may include task forces, special projects, and grants.
Director Requirements and Qualifications
- Qualified candidates must have a doctoral degree and nursing background, with at least 7 years of prior experience in nursing education.
- Proven ability to create innovative nursing education focused programming.
- Experience leading staff – supervise, mentor, and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Must be highly organized, strong attention to detail, flexible and collaborative, and superior interpersonal skills. Excellent ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Additional qualifications include solid time management, problem solving skills, and basic project management.
