Downtown Partnership of Baltimore is looking for a dynamic communications professional to be a part of its team. The Communications Director reports to the Sr. Vice President of Communications and is responsible for message and audience development, public and media relations, content creation for print and digital publications, management of support staff, and special events support. The Communications Director works directly with Downtown Partnership staff and outside vendors, manages relevant budgets, and tracks effectiveness of communications initiatives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.Supports the Sr. VP of Communications with messaging, public relations, and media relations.Oversees content for Downtown Partnership collateral, including reports, press releases, advertisements, websites, and social media.Manages Downtown Partnership staff on written communications (eg tweets, letters, reports, broadcast emails).Coordinates with Vice President of Marketing on communications strategy and branding opportunities, events, and collateral creation. Generates copy and story ideas to be used across multiple platforms including social media, podcasts, videos, and long form narrative writing. Supports the creation and acquisition of still and video images for advertising and publications. Assists the Sr. VP of Communications with presentations and speeches and other ad hoc assignments as determined by the VP of Communications. Attends DPOB events to provide staff support and document events through still/moving images and social media content. Produces a Broadcast Email featuring Downtown Partnership news and events every two weeks. Works with other Baltimore agencies to integrate DPOB messaging and programming with external initiatives (eg, Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts, Visit Baltimore, Live Baltimore).Represents DPOB at meetings and events that may be influential to the development of Downtown branding.Oversees specific project budgets, coordinates budgeting with VP of Communications, and manages accuracy and payment of invoices related to Marketing & Communications.REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in marketing or communications or related field. Seven to ten years of experience in communications or public relations required. Strong writer, familiar with targeting messaging, content and writing style for different audiences.Microsoft Office computer skills required. Knowledge of basic HTML coding and video/photo editing tools preferred
