Responsibilities

The economist will develop and apply forecasting techniques, assess economic impacts of aviation activity, and develop models used for forecasting aviation demand in different sectors of aviation. Incumbent will create comprehensive, sophisticated and objective models of aviation activity at airports and within the National Aviation System. Incumbent's work will be reviewed by the Division Manager. The economist will work within a team to develop forecasts and perform detailed analysis on aviation issues (including forecasting, economic analysis, database management/analysis and programming). The duties include serving on multidisciplinary teams, and developing forecasts for various sectors of aviation activity. The economist will develop and apply econometric models to develop forecasts. The duties will include modeling, database querying, programming, and maintenance to support policy positions for the FAA and the Department of Transportation.

Qualifications

IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS BELOW:

Applicants must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED experience equivalent to the next lower grade/pay band (FG/GS-12/FV-H) in the Federal government or non-Federal equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is typically in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: Experience developing models, statistical applications and programming.

You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history. Errors or omissions may impact your rating or may result in you not being considered.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.

    OR
  • Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

  • If you are a current or former Federal employee, and you currently hold or previously held a position classified in the 110 occupational series, you are not required to submit a college transcript provided you upload a copy of the SF-50 (Notification of Personnel Action) verifying your classification in the 110 occupational series.
