Summary

This position is located in the The Office of the Chief Immigration Judge, Executive Office for Immigration Review, U. S. Department of Justice. Incumbent serves as the Chief Clerk and manages and supervises activities related to the administrative and operational functions of the Immigration Courts nationwide.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Directs the overall planning, development, implementation and execution of all Immigration Court operations.
  • Develops and recommends policies, procedures, systems, and practices to improve the operation of the Immigration Courts administrative program.
  • Recommends and initiates adoption of new and alternative policy and changes in legislation designed to establish more effective court administrative operations throughout the nation.
  • Applies knowledge of data analytics to ensure the integrity and quality of all data pertaining to Immigration Court functions.
  • Identifies and monitors the standardization of the education program and training needs of Courts, including the design and implementation of employee orientation.
  • Coordinates activities as an advisor to officials of the United States Courts, Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, and the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, on Immigration Court operational developments and improvements.
  • Directs the work of a staff consisting of para-professional, administrative, technical and/or support personnel.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the Chief Clerk position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

Have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal Government that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position that included: 1) Developing policy or procedures to improve the operation of a court's administrative program; 2) Advising court officials on court operation development or improvement activities; 3) Reviewing and interpreting management or statistical reports regarding hearing process; AND 4) Supervising the work of a staff consisting of para-professional, administrative, technical and/or support personnel to administer court operations. (Note: This experience must be demonstrated in your resume.)

Conditions of Employment: Only U.S. Citizens or Nationals are eligible for employment with the Executive Office for Immigration Review. Dual citizens of the U.S. and another country will be considered on a case-by-case basis. All DOJ applicants, both U.S. citizens and non-citizens, whose job location is with the U.S., must meet the residency requirement.
