This position is located in the U.S. Department of Defense's Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Defense Facilities Directorate (DFD), Federal Facilities Division (FFD), Pentagon Building Management Office (PBMO), which provides building management services for the program.

Responsibilities

Your typical work assignments may include the following:
  • Perform support to related complex research, development, project engineering, program management and evaluation.
  • Exercise technical responsibility for planning and conducting various projects of broad scope and unconventional requiring the ability to interpret, select and extend pertinent precedents or guides.
  • Analyze data and study characteristics of materials relating to engineering systems, processes and structures.
  • Exercise creativity and critical judgment in developing new methods and recommending solution to complex problems.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in: knowledge of technical engineering methods, principles, requirements, work techniques and practices used to analyze, configure, test and troubleshoot highly complex fire alarm systems and energy management control systems; plan, coordinate, schedule, monitor and inspect projects to ensure successful and timely completion.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

PPP PILOT: The Washington Headquarters Service is currently operating under an approved reengineered Priority Placement Program (PPP) pilot for all positions in its serviced workforce.
