Summary

You will serve as an Engineering Psychologist to the Assistant Chief of Staff for Training (N7A). The position is organizationally located at Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic (COMNAVAIRLANT) Headquarters located in Norfolk, Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • You will serve as command lead for Improving Force Operational Safety in a team setting and advising on improving human factors in system and training integration.
  • You will conduct efforts to analyze human systems interface (HSI) and provides programmatic enhancement and support recommendations for Naval Forces host application software and hardware systems.
  • You will identify and mitigate potential mishap precursors before the mishap event, simultaneously develop measures, methods and analysis.
  • You will develop systems that will recognize and effectively deal with expected human factors.
  • You will identify and eliminate barriers to free and open communication of information within teams and throughout the operating forces.
  • You will provide collaborate input to the Human Factor Oversight Counsel (HFOC) regarding the Force Human Systems Interface applied in ship operational, training and maintenance phases.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: specialized experience:
- Applying fundamental principles and theoretical concepts from psychology disciplines to human and organizational performance, decision making, training, engineering and human/system integration to pursue and coordinate program activities;
- Establishing operating systems or training requirements to ensure optimized human systems interfaces where guidelines and methodologies are inappropriate or do not exist;
- Conducting research to evaluate potential solutions related to changes in equipment design, procedures, manpower, personnel or training; - Conducting interviews or surveys of users, watch standers or customers on topics such as requirements, needs, fatigue, ergonomics or interfaces;
- Applying modeling or quantitative analysis to forecast events, such as human decisions, behaviors, structure, processes of organizations or the attitudes/actions of human groups;
- Preparing reports or presentations summarizing results/conclusions of human systems integration and human factors assessments, such as testing, investigation or validation procedures.

Education

In addition to Specialized Experience, applicants must meet the following Basic Education Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to the full professional work in Clinical Psychology. (Transcripts must be provided.)
