Assistant Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations - Georgetown University Law Center

The Advancement Office of the Law Center is charged with raising funds to advance the institution ' s mission and achieve goals set forth by the Executive Vice President of the Law Center/Dean of the Law School and the Assistant Dean of Development & Alumni Affairs . Corporate and Foundation fundraising objectives of the Law Center and the University include increasing outreach to new corporations and foundations, while re taining relationships with those who are already making charitable gifts to the institution, and increasing the total dollars ra i sed .

The Assistant Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations plays an essential role on the Law major gifts and corporate and foundation fund - raising team . S/he carries out in - depth research and prospect analysis for corporate and foundation fund raising and assists in the development of corporate and foundation funding proposals . Working closely with the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations , the Assistant Director has additional duties that include but are not limited to:

Writing and Proposal Development
  • Drafts and edits texts and budgets for major gift, corporate, and foundation proposals and other fund-raising and marketing documents.
  • Maintains familiarity with Law Center programs and faculty research projects, interacting with Law faculty and other Law and main campus departments.
  • Develops and implements the solicitation strategy for solicitations of up to $500,000.
  • Manages a portfolio size of $250,000 -$ 1,000 , 000 and up to 250 prospects .
  • Coordinates compilation and submission of proposal packages .
  • Works closely with the Office of Sponsored Programs and Office of Sponsored Research to coordinate proposal approvals and submissions, and works on p rojects as requested.


Research and Dissemination
  • Identifies, researches, and analyzes corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Establishes and effectively manages relationships with prospec t s .
  • Works with the prospect research management team to prepare prospective funder briefings.
  • Disseminates prospective funding opportunities to faculty and center directors and track metrics.


Reporting
  • Maintains current corporate and foundation contact records, opportunities, solicitations, and activities in the CRM.
  • Tracks and reports on activities and metrics for the CFR team.
  • Prepares and updates reports on dissemination, meetings, and proposal metrics.
  • Assists faculty in grant report guidance interpretation, review, and edits.


University and Law Center Representative
  • Represents the Law fundraising staff at University meetings, conferences, and seminars as deemed appropriate.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's D egree
  • 3-5 years of corporate and foundation prospect research and proposal writing experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including all Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Analytical skills, good organizational skills, flexibility, and confidentiality
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising in the $500,000+ annually
  • Ability to work with many different constituencies and the ability to balance multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Curiosity, an interest in continual learning, the ability to make mental connections, excellent critical thinking, and good judgment
  • An interest in Law Center programs, foundations and philanthropy, and the roles of nonprofits and higher education in addressing broad social issues are all very important
  • Experience with project budgets is preferred


Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat applications are essential
  • Capacity to gain proficiency in Portfolio & Relationship Management application and Gambit database necessary for adherence to prospect management system


Other Skills
  • Ability to use good judgment and ethics in handling confidential materials with sensitivity and discretion
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in higher education, especially those with an understanding of the purpose an understanding of the Law Center and Georgetown University
