Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing custom fixturing, equipment and machines; interacts with customers while managing large and small projects as well as supports onsite fabrication and assembly. Works in a team environment and acts as a project lead and resource to help develop new engineers. Develops mechanical system design solutions based on engineering principles and involvement in presentation of the solution to customer. Mechanical design of customized solutions including motor sizing, pneumatic/electro-pneumatic/and electrical routing. Support the manufacture, build and validation of systems. Provide technical suport to external and internal customers. Resolve operational problems related to projects minimizing delays or unexpected cost increases.Provide high quality pre-sales, design-in and post-sales support to customer on or offsite throughout the life of the design. Design machines using CAD Software - Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault. Work with Controls Engineers on the design of the controls systems Support manufacturing during the fabrication and assembly process. Support onsite runoff of equipment with customers. Responsible for project success. Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed. Support sales team in pre-sales technical concept and budgeting and assist with new opportunities. Interpret client requirements, identify and address design parameters and engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented accurately, on time and within budget. Actively participate in department and companywide continuous improvement initiatives. Provide critical oversight and guidance to team member's analysis and design. Lead other engineers in development of technical skills Create accurate Bill of Materials. Define equipment and parts from external suppliers. Create customer documentation. Modifies systems upon customer's request and documents the amendments accordingly. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering 5+ years related job experience (Dynamic machine design experience a plus) Proficient in SolidWorks Software, MS Office, Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault. Basic knowledge of GD&T. Familiarity with Safety Codes, ANSE B11, OSHA and Industry Accepted Guarding practices.Basic understanding of GMA welding.Expert level knowledge of mechanical design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of motors, gears, mechanical systems, pneumatics, robotic and vacuum systems.Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills, able to work independently or in team environment.Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment. Ability to balance multiple projects with proven track record.Proficient at project management including strong organizational and planning skills.
