Job Summary: The Business Development Director will be responsible for the sales and execution of special events, sporting events, and sponsorship sales. The Director of Business Development will also work closely with other departments to manage staff scheduling and training. Pre-Opening Tasks The Business Development Director is responsible for the oversight and implementation of all tasks related to operations development. These responsibilities include: Participating in planning/strategic meetings Participating in the acquisition & training of staff Developing/integrating facility management software Developing operational Key Performance Indicator Reports (KPI) Helping with the implementation of the business development strategy Developing the business development schedule Conduct pre-grand opening events (hardhat tours, etc.) Overseeing tasks related to grand opening events Overall development, promotion, and sale of facility programs Essential Functions: Event development in-house and co-partnerships Sponsorship development and primary contact for all sponsors after they have been contracted Participate in and oversee the planning and implementation of events, tournaments, and rentals Assist in maintaining an event calendar of rental/tournaments booked and listing of all facility activities planned Develop and implement a sales action plan Establish pricing strategies Project event and sponsorship sales and profit Track and report weekly sales metrics Work with third-party partners to maximize revenue and attract events Sustain rapport with sponsors and key accounts by making periodic visits; exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities Serve as Manager-On-Duty (MOD) at certain key events Actively participate in other functions as necessary, including but not limited to event setup and execution, attending events and meetings, assisting other departments as may be needed Various other duties as required Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or related field with 3-5 years' experience Experience in youth sports, trade shows, consumer shows, and convention sales Experience in event creation and planning Experience in market research to gain consumer insights and key selling points for attracting and managing corporate relationships including sponsorship and financial partnerships Successful sales experience Skilled at identifying and creating opportunities to deliver revenue goals Contract negotiation experience Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and negotiating skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Must be able to work flexible schedules as may be scheduled, including weekends, nights, and holidays Travel Requirements: Minimal Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
