You'll power Hillel by connecting stakeholders with our community and raising vital funds. AU Hillel has experienced a renaissance in recent years, more than tripling student involvement and doubling our annual campaign. As Director of Development, you will work closely with our Executive Director and Board of Directors to sustain that rapid growth.. The ideal candidate will be a natural relationship-builder and effective communicator, highly organized, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. You will have demonstrated success in personally soliciting meaningful contributions and in supporting others to successfully fundraise. The right person will be excited to interact regularly with students, parents, and alumni, as well as university and Jewish community colleagues.. What You'll Do. Create and implement a robust development strategy and annual development plan Develop and manage a portfolio of donors and prospects with an emphasis on building Hillel's major gifts program Manage ongoing donor cultivation and stewardship, creatively communicating with stakeholders in ways that build their enthusiasm for Hillel's work Plan and organize special events for current and prospective supporters Engage with the Board of Directors and other volunteers to cultivate a culture of giving, develop a leadership pipeline, and strengthen their capacity to support the organization Oversee fundraising operations including our donor database, gift processing, and gift acknowledgment. On a given day you might: Personally reach out to parents and alumni, including current and prospective supporters Help the Board Development Chair prepare for an upcoming meeting, brainstorm with a member of the Young Alumni Board about an upcoming event, or meet with student leaders about an online crowdfunding initiative Meet with a senior member of the university development team to strategize together about a key prospect Conduct prospect research and prepare background materials for direct solicitations Draft a grant proposal or direct mail solicitation Attend an exciting student event or get coffee with a student so that you're prepared to convey Hillel's compelling story to our stakeholders. What You've Accomplished. 5+ years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising, preferably in the Jewish community or the higher education sector Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. Proven success: Executing multi-faceted annual fundraising campaigns Identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors of $1,000+ Helping volunteers participate effectively in the fundraising process. Passion for Hillel's mission and pluralistic Jewish life Excellent verbal and written communication skills Superb organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects An entrepreneurial spirit, strong work ethic, and desire to learn and be challenged every day Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, donor management software, and prospect research tools. What You'll Receive. Competitive salary in the non-profit marketplace; salary range for this role is $80,000-$90,000 Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (GSRA), pension plan, life insurance, Long Term Disability (LTD), generous vacation/sick time and parental leave Great professional development, mentoring, and skill building opportunities Regional and national travel (approximately 10%-20%) Flexible work environment.
