Director, Academic Advising - Georgetown University Law Center

This position is responsible for academic advising and program development. As an Academic Advisor for Georgetown Law students, this individual will have a strong understanding of academic policies and requirements and of the curriculum. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for advising and programming for J.D. joint and concurrent degree s tudent s and J . D . students who seek enroll in courses on the Main Campus in addition to all other J.D. students.
  • Responsible for drafting, assessing, and enforcing academic policies as necessary.
  • Develop and execute academic events, including programs for joint degree students.
  • Develop and suggest programmatic enhancements to best meet student needs.

  • Requires a J.D.
  • 5 years of legal e x perience or equivalent e x perience
  • Superior written, oral , and interpersonal communication skills and a record of academic success
  • Careful attention to detail and the ability to be a thoughtful and creative problem solver while working with various constituencies withi n the Law Center and th e University
  • Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and meet firm deadlines
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred qualifications
  • Previous experience in higher education and/or academic counseling
  • Experience with databases
