Institute Associate, Georgetown Climate Center - Georgetown University Law Center

The Georgetown Climate Center (GCC) , based at Georgetown University L aw Center, seeks to adva n ce effective climate, energy, and transportation policies in the United States-policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help commu nit ies adapt to climate change. For ten years, the Center has worked at the ne x us of state and federa l climate and energy policy to inform federal policies with the lessons of state and local communities and to serve as a resource to the states and local g overnm e nt s we serve.

GCC is seeking a motivated Institute Associate who will work on both adaptation and mitigation policy projects. Duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Conducting l ega l analysis;
  • Faci li t ating state engagement processes;
  • Providing superior research and writing s uppo rt;
  • R e presenting GCC at local, state, and national events; and
  • Assisting with the supervision of student research on relevant climate topics.


Qualifications
  • Advanced degree required
  • Minimum of one to two years of experience in adaptation or mitigation climate policy
  • Working knowledge of topics related to resilience, power sector, transportation, and clean energy required
  • Ability to work w e ll individually and as part of a sma ll team.
  • The ideal candidate will po ssess a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong research, written and verbal skills are also required.


Preferred qualification:
  • Juris Doctor degree (J.D.)
