Federated Wireless' Spectrum Controller, which delivers software-defined spectrum through a cloud-native Spectrum Access System (SAS), protects Federal incumbents with a redundant network of Environmental Sensing Capability (ESC) sensors, and provides a robust set of lifecycle management tools with real-time visibility for optimizing and monetizing Citizens Broadband Radio Services (CBRS). The Role: This position is a subject matter expert and is heavily involved in technical innovation and the development of wireless system architectures, equipment, and applications. This position will provide innovation, analysis and development of future products relevant to the business objectives of Federated Wireless. This position reports to the Chief Technology Officer. Responsibilities Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on wireless system architecture technologies that are relevant to the technology, policy, or business objectives of Federated Wireless Investigate system architecture, L1/L2/L3 network design, cognitive radio, RF propagation, interference modeling, machine learning, and security topics in relation to the development and expansion of the spectrum sharing ecosystem. Study system architecture features relevant to Next Generation Wireless systems (eg LTE-Advanced and 5G) and related spectrum sharing frameworks. Investigate the elements of spectrum management, and technical regulatory, while being able to understand, analyze, and comment/respond FCC rulings and comments. Provide theoretical analysis and simulation in the development of innovative technical solutions Contribute to Federated Wireless' Intellectual Property estate. Cooperate with other internal teams in development and execution of strategies to standardize Federated Wireless technologies, products, and services. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in wireless standardization and/or wireless network solution and network architecture research and development. Understanding of 3GPP LTE system architecture and feature standards, including LTE L2/L3 and EPC System Architecture features, such as paging, handover processes, LTE interface protocols, call processing, RF, parameter optimization, Quality-of-Service management, and SON systems. Experience developing simulations, prototypes, and software reference systems using Matlab, C++, and Python. Knowledge of spectrum sharing, the workings of spectrum allocation, and spectrum management processes. Experience with public speaking, organizing, and evangelizing, and interpersonal and communication (verbal/written) skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Self-motivated and passionate Ability to thrive in an innovative, dynamic, and research-oriented work environment. Dedicated, result oriented professional with an attitude for getting the job done. Masters (preferably PhD) in related field.
