Job Announcement

Provides administrative and scheduling support to branches within the Fire Prevention Services Section. Assists customers with questions concerning processes that occur within Fire Prevention. Schedules inspections. This encompasses knowledge of complex fire protection systems dependent on the occupancy type. Assists the Town of Herndon and Town of Vienna with the process for obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy. Performs administrative, clerical, and other duties as required.

Note: Functional areas include general administrative, business administration, customer service.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and two (2) years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in FIDO (Fairfax Inspection Database Online);
  • Experience working in a construction or fire department environment;
  • Proven ability providing customer service in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a friendly, service-oriented and professional manner with internal and external customers;
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills;
  • Knowledge and experience in general office administration and record/file duties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job is generally sedentary in nature, however, visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor, incumbent must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment. Must communicate with others. Employee may require to lift up to 15 lbs. All duties are performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
