Term Faculty - Department of Information Sciences and Technology:

The George Mason University Department of Information Sciences and Technology, within the Volgenau School of Engineering, invites applications for one or more open rank full-time, nontenure-track, instructional faculty positions beginning Fall 2019. The faculty rank will be commensurate with experience. Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for: * Teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate-level; * Developing and coordinating courses, managing adjunct faculty and graduate teaching assistants, participating in student advising, and performing other professional duties; * Satisfying teaching and service requirements consistent with the departmental policies.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned PhD before the start date of the position in one of the following fields: information sciences, information technology, computer science, or a related field. Applicants should possess a strong commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Applicants for the position at the associate professor level should have significant experience. While applicants in all areas of information sciences and technology will be considered, we are particularly interested in candidates who specialize in databases, cyber/information security, operating systems, and programming.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidates will be those who have experience and/or ability to teach courses in at least one of the areas of databases, information security, operating systems, and programming. Practical experience in these areas is highly desired. Previous experience in online, distance, and/or hybrid education is a plus.

About Information Sciences & Technology Department: The position will be housed in the department of Information Sciences & Technology. The department has 27 full-time faculty members and in addition to bachelor's and master's programs in Information Technology, the department also participates in an interdisciplinary BS in Cyber Security Engineering, MS in Data Analytics Engineering, and PhD in Information Technology (concentration in IST) offered by the Volgenau School of Engineering.
