About the School of Nursing The George Mason School of Nursing maintains 40 plus years as a school of excellence in nursing education. The Director has the opportunity to lead a large and complex School with the capacity to be recognized as a national model in its teaching, research, practice, and service achievements. Opportunities for interdisciplinary teaching and research have been enhanced by the school's location within the College of Health and Human Services. The School of Nursing is home to 950 undergraduate and graduate students offering several degrees including the BSN degree (traditional and accelerated), RN-BSN degree, MSN programs with specialties in primary care nurse practitioner, nurse educator, nurse administrator, as well as the DNP and PhD in nursing. Mason and Partners (MAP) nurse-led clinics are federally funded and provide our students with experiential learning in primary care, public health, informatics, telehealth and other interprofessional opportunities. Our mission is to prepare graduates for interdisciplinary roles as clinicians, researchers, educators, and administrators in an innovative, caring, and collaborative learning environment.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to: 1) provide visionary and innovative leadership to the School of Nursing; 2) generate resources in support of its mission; 3) oversee and take ownership of the academic unit budget including reallocation decisions; 4) oversee accreditation processes for programs within the academic unit, including data collection and submission of required documents; 5) assume responsibility necessary for state board approval and national accreditation of all school of nursing programs; 6) teach an appropriate number of credit hours each semester consistent with the teaching load of other college chairs/directors as negotiated with the Dean; 7) collaborate with the chairs of the Departments within the College to advance the research, teaching, and service traditions of the College; and 8) develop community partnerships and advocate for nursing training and career opportunities.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an earned doctoral degree (PhD) in nursing or a related field. The selected candidate will have scholarly accomplishments, grantsmanship and academic experience to warrant a tenured appointment. Qualified candidates will be a graduate of an accredited college/school of nursing, hold a current, unencumbered license as a registered nurse and be academically and experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected program outcomes. Must have a commitment to promoting and supporting a diverse administration, faculty, staff and student population. Experience in an administrative or leadership position in an academic setting, and experience with accreditation of nursing education programs is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who: 1) demonstrate experience working with graduate and undergraduate programs; 2) demonstrate capacity for leadership in developing a research supportive infrastructure; 3) manage budgets, resources, and services, and 4) demonstrate leadership and transparence in collaboration with faculty governance.

About the College of Health and Human Services The College currently comprises six academic units - Global and Community Health, Health Administration, Policy and Informatics, Nursing, Nutrition and Food Studies, Rehabilitation Science, and Social Work. * Global and Community Health offers a BS in Community Health, MS in Global Health, and an CEPH accredited MPH with concentrations in Community Health Promotion, Epidemiology, Food Security and Nutrition, Global Health, Health Policy, Public Health Communication, and Public Health Practice. The department comprises faculty with backgrounds in social and behavioral sciences, environmental and global health, and epidemiology. * Health Administration, Policy and Informatics offers BS through PhD degree programs that build healthy communities for all by preparing health IT data managers and scientists, health services researchers, management and policy leaders focused on increasing the equity, effectiveness and efficiency of health services for individual and population health. * Nursing offers BSN, MSN, DNP, and PhD degree programs with further specialized concentrations, and is home to the Mason and Partners (MAP) clinics which provide primary care and interprofessional experiential learning opportunities. Its mission is to prepare graduates for interdisciplinary roles as clinicians, researchers, educators, and administrators in an innovative, caring, and collaborative learning environment. * Nutrition and Food Studies offers a MS in Nutrition degree program as well as a graduate certificate in nutrition and an undergraduate minor in nutrition. The mission of the Department is to inform students and the public about the role of food and nutrition in improving health and well-being among local and global populations through the integration of education, research, and outreach. * Rehabilitation Science offers BS and PhD degree programs and brings together the expertise of many different disciplines and clinical professions to consider a single issue: optimizing human performance in daily life and developing new interventions to promote optimal function.
