This Software Developer / Engineer position requires a motivated and capable developer/engineer to provide support for the Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC) in Greenbelt MD, to facilitate researchers and other users in their acquisition and use of NASA earth data products and web services. These data products include legacy, current and future NASA Earth Science mission data (satellite and modeling), as well as data from external projects provided by principal investigators in a wide ranging discipline: Atmospheric Composition, Climate, and Water Energy Cycle data with significant societal benefits. Engineers and developers will typically work with a team of experts in Earth Sciences as subject matter experts. Additional information about our data center can be found at the NASA GES DISC web portal (). ADNET Systems Inc is looking for a Software Developer / Engineer to support our work at the GES DISC. The Software Developer / Engineer responsibilities for this project requires Full Stack Engineering in a Development and Operations DevOps software integration responsibilities working with team members performing multiple roles in data informatics and Software Engineering. Experience with lifecycle software development, testing, compilation, integration, install & configuration within a Linux based OS running on premises, hybrid, or cloud native (AWS) environments will be key. The ADNET team is involved in supporting the archiving and distribution of Earth Science data from NASA Earth Science missions, development of online discovery and analysis applications (https://giovanni.gsfc.nasa.gov). The Developer will be working with both new and legacy systems based on Perl/Linux as well as containerized applications using python, Node.js, AnguarlJS, MongoDB, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Developer will have technical development responsibilities and help with planning, coordination and delivery of applications based on infrastructure-as-code concepts. The ideal candidate must have experience and expertise with container-based architectures (Docker, Kubernetes). As with any operational environment, we look to maximize automation where possible to increase system efficiency, so ideas and experience with automation of work flows will be desirable. Responsibilities:Working with data and service Product Owners to plan development and integration sprintsDeploying and validating production releasesEnsuring availability of the production systemMigrating current infrastructure to infrastructure-as-codeCommunication with stakeholders on releases and system statusCoding and testing as necessary Required:BS in Computer Science or a related field with 3-5 years of experienceSolid understanding and experience with configuration management and source code managementExperience with Atlassian tools such as JIRA, Confluence and Git/BitBucket preferredExperience with automated testing and continuous integrationExperience with structured software development using any or all of the following: Python, JavaScript, AngularJS, ReactJS, PerlThe Developer should have a solid understanding of Linux systemsPassionate about the concept of infrastructure as a code (IaaC) and leverages modern tools to define, build and manage containerized infrastructureGood understanding of core principles of Scrum in letter and spiritExcellent communication and interpersonal skills in working with internal and external customersUS Citizenship or Permanent Residency is a mustDesired:Experience performing in the role of a Scrum MasterHands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)Experience in a civilian government-contracting environmentSalary 90k-100k
