Serves as an IT Specialist and recognized Agency technical software authority and expert on analysis, design and implementation of infrastructure services. spanning UNIX mid-tier, virtualized x86, public cloud, and on premise cloud technology, Linux OS enterprise services and governance, Internet/Intranet application software support, infrastructure automation platforms, services, and governance, container-based Platform-as-a-Service offering, Docker container images and configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Unified Service Portal offering that allows for self-provisioning of infrastructure and infrastructure services, external cloud services and SaaS offerings, internet and/or intranet software application hosting, infrastructure management.
  • Makes authoritative technical recommendations in support of the Agency?s infrastructure and infrastructure management requirements and works with current automation technology to provision required resources.
  • Serves as project lead of one or more technologies, including web server software, internet and/or intranet software application hosting, infrastructure management, or application management.
  • Provides horizontally aligned network infrastructure services spanning multiple public clouds and the on premise cloud to create a unified hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  • Integrate into the development processes to act as a liaison for the infrastructure groups and perform the ops functions for the dev/ops projects.
  • Analyses needs and develops automation to provision infrastructure.
  • Provides expert level guidance on network problem determination and coordinates resolution of major systems software and hardware problems.
  • Employs sophisticated problem analysis, resolution techniques and state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies.
  • Determines area of problem responsibility and summons vendor representatives when appropriate. Also determines most efficient and effective method of recovery after system problems or failure.

To qualify for the 2210 IT Specialist series, the applicant must demonstrate the following competencies:

To qualify for the GS-13, the applicant must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience must include:

(a) administering, troubleshooting and resolving problems and issues within a Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform as a Service infrastructure; AND
(b) implementing hardware and software changes for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and x86 hardware platforms

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
