Responsibilities

The incumbent will be apart of a team that design tests, conduct measurement research, and perform data analysis into the performance of biometric algorithms and technologies. Duties will include providing input on experiment design, executing the experiments, and establishing metrics and measurements for accuracy, timing, scalability, stability, and resource consumption. The incumbent will develop technical reports and briefs for publication and presentation of testing results.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

A. Degree: mathematics; or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.

or

B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to the above requirements: All applicants must have one year (52 weeks) specialized experience at the GS-9 level (ZP-II at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience demonstrating competency in data/statistical analysis using R software package.

This notice is issued under direct-hire authority to recruit new talent to occupations for which NIST has a severe shortage of candidates.

A one year trial period may be required.

This appointment may be extended up to four years without further competition.

If the selection results in a temporary promotion, it can be extended not to exceed 5 years or made permanent without further competition.
