Summary

About the Position:
This Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Outreach Specialist position is with the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC), G-1/DCS for Human Resources located on Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Mission: To provide the research, engineering, and analytical expertise to deliver capabilities that enable the Army to deter and, when necessary, decisively defeat any adversary now and in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, coordinate and implement for widest impact, processes and procedures related to support of K-12 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) projects within CCDC.
  • Coordinate with designated CCDC STEM Program Managers who execute Army Educational Outreach Programs (AEOP), spin-offs of these programs and programs unique to mission.
  • Serves as the deputy cooperative agreement manager on the AEOP cooperative agreement award.
  • Use innovative and school-friendly approaches to create awareness and integration of AEOP's STEM opportunities into K-12 academic programs.
  • Assist in the development and review of the AEOP annual program plan and annual program reports.
  • Serve as a resource to regional staffs and others regarding policies, objectives, and operations of the STEM Outreach Program.
  • Strengthen, expand, and enable communities and stakeholders to provide a continuum of formal and informal STEM programs and opportunities
  • Promote continuous learning through the seamless progression of AEOP opportunities such as Junior Solar Sprint (JSS), eCYBERMISSION, Gains in the Education of Math and Science (GEMS), Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS).

Your resume must describe at least one year specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) Analyzing the effectiveness, efficiency, and performance of Educational Outreach programs, (2) Providing oversight and evaluating major administrative aspects of Educational Outreach program efforts, and (3) Devising innovative methods and criteria for approaching education/outreach problems. This level of specialized experience is equivalent to the next lower/grade GS-12.

Basic Education Requirement - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Outreach Specialist (1701):

-A bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.

OR

-Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described in A above.
