Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering guidance and technical assistance on assigned equipment and subsystems.
  • Perform routine and depot level repair on assigned systems, including electronics, IS networking components, and HF, VHF and UHF antenna systems.
  • Investigate, analyze and resolve problems pertaining to the installation, maintenance or repair of the equipment or subsystem assigned.
  • For assigned equipment and subsystems, analyze technical engineering proposals and available technical data and schematics in order to assist with submission of proposed engineering charges.
  • Perform laboratory diagnostics, repair, and depot maintenance of assigned systems and components.
  • Analyze system data and results to isolate and repair system components.
  • Complete internal and external required paperwork for assigned evolutions as well as complete required coordination paperwork with assigned unit, and other government or commercial agencies.
  • Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance, alignment and calibration of assigned mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Prepare reports on progress of technical assignments for senior technicians/engineers, project managers and activity management.
  • Perform the pre/post operational checks and maintenance of instrumentation associated with systems.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You may be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.


Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Demonstrated experience with a wide range of communication systems, including superheterodyne and digital software defined receivers and transceivers involving theories, concepts, principles, procedures and transmission media.
  • Experience in applying communication system applications to program capabilities and operational requirements.
  • Analyzing a variety of unusual communications conditions, problems and questions associated with formulating projects or studies to alter major communications systems (e.g. systems compatibility, circuits, switches, distribution, satellite linkages and networking).
  • Ability to advise managers on the effectiveness of programs/projects and operations relating to productivity and efficiency with the appropriate military and government activity.
  • Ability to write and speak concisely and authoritatively, to report on the progress and outcome of technical and administrative assignments and to present recommendations.
