Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance and support to the staff in maintaining and up keeping of the facility grounds and equipment. Requires the use of trade practices associated with carpentry and painting as well as work involving motor vehicle operations.
  • Incumbent performs a variety of tasks involving the maintenance and minor repairs of buildings, playground equipment, toys and associated equipment.
  • Performs minor grounds maintenance to include ensuring entrances and exits are free from debris, sidewalks are clear of ice/snow, and surfaces under playground structures are maintained according to safety requirements.
  • Drives government provided vehicles to pick up and deliver supplies and food from the original source to the facility.
  • Drives assigned busses or other authorized vehicles to transport children/youth on field trips or to and from school or accompanies walking children to/from school.
  • Ensures the bus always has sufficient fuel. Ensures vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity. Keeps the bus clean and free of debris.
  • Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change) transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities. Arranges for the annual inspection of busses; purchases and repairs pursuant to inspection.
  • Performs visual examinations and operational tests to determine the need for, and the performance of, basic repair work. Requires use of standard tools manual and power, lawnmowers, weed eaters, vacuum cleaners, etc.
  • In absence of dedicated kitchen personnel, incumbent delivers, and serves light meals/snacks. Ensures risk management procedures (i.e. abuse prevention, identification, and reporting procedures: accident prevention, etc.) are followed.

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment of background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-15, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation is required.
  • A one year probationary period may be required
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
  • Completed and signed DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty
  • Successfully complete all required background checks to include a health screening. An annual health screening will be required throughout employment. All local background checks will be re-verified every 5 years.
  • Complete a current health assessment and immunizations IAW current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Schedule includes working irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends. Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors under different types of weather conditions.
  • This position requires mandatory drug testing.
  • Appointment is subject to completion of a favorable background checks/investigation to determine suitability for this position.
  • Incumbent is legally required to report all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect. All local background checks will be re-verified every 5 years.


Qualifications

High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job.
Requires a valid state driver's license to operate a 15 passenger vehicle.
OR
Requires a commercial drivers license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a 24 passenger vehicle.
