Summary

You will serve as a COMPLIANCE INVESTIGATOR in the Command Evaluation and Review Office of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Responsibilities

  • You will serve as an independent investigator or member of a large investigative team.
  • You will conduct large scale, complex sensitive inspections, audits, or investigations at NNSY, other public shipyards, NAVSEA, or other local commands as assigned.
  • You will investigate a full spectrum of functions to include: personnel issues, worker compensation, civilian pay issues, procurement and applications of available resources.
  • You will investigate complaints, allegations of fraud, collusion, improper conduct, and situations were individuals feel they have been wronged by the Department of the Navy system.
  • You will gather facts, perform analysis, and use proper standards in developing clear and concise reports of findings.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

For Compliance Investigator, GS-1801-12, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

-Experience applying complex inspection, investigation, and compliance principals while serving as an independent investigator.
-Experience using a wide range of investigative techniques in making corrective recommendations to senior management.
-Experience referencing DOD, DON, and NAVSEA programs to design and conduct comprehensive inspections, investigations, and compliance reviews.
-Experience writing detailed investigation plans, outlines of proof, Reports of Investigation, and briefings for senior officials.
-Experience using ingenuity and innovation in devising solutions for systemic problems.

For Compliance Investigator, GS-1801-11, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

-Experience applying inspection, investigation, and compliance principals while serving as an assistant investigator.
-Experience using a wide range of investigative techniques in making corrective recommendations to senior management.
-Experience using DOD, DON, and NAVSEA programs as guides in designing and conducting comprehensive inspections, investigations, and compliance reviews.
-Experience writing detailed investigation plans, outlines of proof, Reports of Investigation, and briefings for senior officials.
-Experience collaborating with team members in devising solutions for systemic problems.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
