Financial and Operational Services (FOS) manages AARP's multi-year financial planning, budgeting and forecasting; treasury and investments; tax reporting and planning; and accounting and financial reporting activities. The division provides project management and training and support for the systems used to manage AARP's money and assets.

Summary

Provides ongoing financial and business analysis and support for all levels of management. Performs financial analysis and reporting duties, including creation, review, and quality control of financial reports. Assists with the annual budget, quarterly forecast, and monthly financial results analysis processes across multiple lines of business. Develops, builds, and maintains complex financial models. Analyzes financial statements and related data. Develops executive-level presentations to inform and support both short-term and long-term planning efforts enterprise-wide. Develops, builds, and maintains financial reports, leveraging AI/Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology and data visualization tools. Provides ad-hoc financial analysis, as required.Provides ongoing financial and business analysis and support for all levels of management. Responsibilities
  1. Provides financial planning and analysis support. Produces monthly business unit budget/forecast variance reports, identifies and communicates details related to any variance issues, meets with business unit managers, discusses variances, and documents/communicates related risks or opportunities.
  2. Develops complex forms, reports, and ad hoc financial analytics within Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Financial Reporting, Smart View, and Tableau. Develops skills to work extensively on all aspects of Hyperion Planning and Smart View (Essbase).
  3. Partner with appropriate staff and Accounting to coordinate the timely completion of the annual budget process, quarterly forecasts, monthly financial close, and other ad-hoc analysis projects.
  4. Prioritizes multiple projects and assignments efficiently and effectively. Uses business, technical, and educational experience to correctly evaluate the analytical output of others. Completes assignments in a timely manner, often while managing multiple projects with competing priorities.
  5. Demonstrates continuous improvement practices to drive process efficiencies within key areas of responsibility.


Requirements

Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline and 2+ years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position. Requires experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, business analysis, and modeling. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills required.

Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships, establish trust, and work collaboratively with staff.

Requires a diverse set of business, financial, and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and to leverage technology, such as Hyperion, Excel, Tableau, and AI/RPA tools.

Technical competencies include financial planning software tools, such as Hyperion, Essbase, and PeopleSoft. Must be an advanced user of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools preferred.

Ability to work in a matrix-managed environment.

Ability to write and speak clearly and effectively to various audiences.

Comfortable explaining financial processes and results to internal clients that may not have a finance background.
