The Economic and Housing Research Department is looking for an Economic Research Professional to help produce research that makes Freddie Mac the leader in housing. In this role you will help compose reports and conduct analysis on economic trends, construct a monthly economic and housing market forecast, and support our Chief Economist and senior leaders throughout the company in all things economy, housing and mortgage markets.

Your Work Falls Into Two Primary Categories:

  • Support the Chief Economist and team in various research projects, including reports to senior leaders, external publications
  • Analyze economic, housing, mortgage market data and identify trends and their likely impact on our company and industry

Be a Subject Matter Expert on all things Economy, Housing:
  • Help produce a monthly forecast of economic and housing market conditions, along with alternative scenario forecasts
  • Mine our internal company data, and external data from government agencies and vendors for insights into economic, housing, mortgage market trends
  • Support internal/external partners in requests for economic insights by identifying appropriate data/models and clearly communicating their strengths and limitations


  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience
  • Coursework and/or experience in quantitative fields (e.g. statistics, economics, machine learning, data science)
  • Experience working with economic or financial data
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Exceptional quantitative, empirical analysis, and research skills
  • Financial services experience
  • Programming skills (R, Python, SAS, etc)
