Team Lead for Business Development, Center for Global Health Practice and Impact - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Team Lead for Business Development develops strategies to secure a pipeline of funding focusing on cutting edge issues or developments in the fields of health science delivery support, health informatics and data science, health work force development, global health security, health care policy and financing, health governance, leadership, and management, and implementation science and health services research for the Center for Global Health Practice and Impact (CGHPI), based at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC). The three critical areas of action are new business development, new program design, and new program start up. Reporting to the Co-Director and Associate Research Professor, the Team Lead has additional duties that include but are not limited to:

New Business Development
  • Develops and presents plans with clear goals, targets, and measures of performance for new business annually, and over a 3-5 year cycle.
  • Develops strategies and identifies opportunities for expanding and diversifying the center's various programs and funding base.
  • Leads proposal capture strategy and structuring, including outlining go/no-go decisions.
  • Helps to identify, recruit, structure, and manage partnerships and consultants for proposal development, submission, and implementation.
  • Develops the organizations strategy in response to RFPs and RFAs.
  • Maintains a pipeline of upcoming bids.
  • Manages the transition process and team from proposal capture and preparation to proposal writing.
  • Develops and continuously improves key proposal templates and processes.


New Program Design and Start Up
  • Develops templates and processes for new program start up and transition to field program teams.
  • Develops program logic models and continuously improves them in line with desired program outputs, outcomes, and projected impact.
  • Actively contributes to program monitoring and evaluation work.
  • Documents key lessons learned to improve organization learning.
  • Participates in program implementation to ensure new program design is rooted in practice.


Proposal Team Management
  • Identifies, recruits, and manages the internal team responsible for technical approaches, proposal writing, staff recruitment, and budget development.
  • Works with costing/budget teams and other University departments in proposal preparation processes, depending on the scope of the opportunity and the technical approach.


Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree; Advanced degree desired in public health, business administration, or a related field
  • At least 10 years of experience in global health, preferably with increasing levels of business development responsibility and leadership
  • Excellent demonstrable writing skills, experience presenting technical issues in different fora, and the ability to communicate effectively and engage fellow team members and staff
  • Demonstrated success in new business development, with a preference for US federal agency related "wins"
  • Substantial experience working on proposals for programs implemented in limited resource settings
  • Ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams including clinicians, health care management specialists, policy specialists, laboratory scientists, and other public health experts
