Dewberry is currently seeking a motivated Traffic Project Engineer/Traffic Project Manager for their Fairfax, Virginia and/or Gainesville, Virginia offices. This position provides an excellent opportunity for career advancement and the development of project management skills. Primary responsibilities will include completing and managing/overseeing traffic engineering design and studies related to traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, work zone traffic control, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and traffic operational analyses. Experience in all of these disciplines is not required.

Candidate will be part of Dewberry's growing transportation engineering practice and will be involved in a wide variety of projects and pursuits in the mid-Atlantic region. Candidate must have a BS in Civil Engineering, and desirably will have a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience. Applicants must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to monitor schedule and budgets, and the desire to work in groups and lead a group of junior traffic engineers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include design and management of various traffic related tasks as noted above and delegation of work to other traffic engineering staff. The Candidate will also prepare design and cost estimates, meet with clients, and assist in proposal development.

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BS in Civil Engineering.
  • PE license required, desirably in Virginia or the ability to obtain in Virginia via reciprocity
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation engineering
  • MicroStation experience required
  • VDOT and/or design-build experience preferred
  • Project Management and leadership skills preferred
  • Proficiency with analysis software (Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA) desirable
  • Working knowledge of VDOT standards preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
