Responsibilities: Bowie University’s Residence Life program serves the needs of approximately 1500 students through a system of five traditional residence halls and two apartment styled communities, one of which is a public-private owned facility.

The Assistant Director Housing Services is a key management member of the Office of Residence Life (ORL) addressing issues and concerns as they relates to operations. The incumbent of this position oversees the operations and strategic planning for the office, as it relates to Facilities, Budget and Fiscal Planning, Policy Administration, Departmental Inventory, Procurement and Contracts, Environment and Safety as well as coordination and negotiation of activities with other University departments.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree required. Major in Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, or closely related field preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership experience in Student Services) specifically in Residence Life and/or University Housing facilities. A working knowledge of the budget process and higher education administration. Experience with the supervision of professional staff. Strong administrative and communication skills. Ability to maintain high morale among staff and have a pleasant working disposition. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with faculty, students and staff. The successful candidate must be creative and possess demonstrated skills in business practices, contract negotiating, budget management, leadership development and training, special projects management and coordination; computer literacy is highly desirable.

Condition of Employment: This position will require flexibility with work hours, including some evening and/or weekend hours may be called upon to participate in the on-call duty rotation.

SALARY:  $61,278 - $65,000                                                     RANGE:  III
