You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Cyber Security Branch of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.

Responsibilities

  • You will prepare and coordinate project authorization documents, operational benefit statement, cost comparisons of alternatives, status reports, and other technical documentation to fulfill systems and network security compliance.
  • You will review and evaluate the security impact of system changes.
  • You will compile, publish, and maintain artifacts for the Training and Education Command Assessment and Authorization process using the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • You will ensure security violations and incidents are reported to appropriate authorities and assist with the investigation.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station.
  • Must able to obtain and maintain the requirements as designated by DoN Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2. A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually documented.


Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: performing in-depth analysis of Information Technology issues within the Cyber Security field; evaluating the effectiveness of systems, devices, procedures, and methods used to safeguard all systems and networks, classified and privacy data in computer accessible media; and/or developing, implementing, and reviewing security plans, policies, and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of data networks.
AND
Have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Recommending changes to IT procedures to ensure security measures continue to be effective.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Translating functional requirements into technical requirements.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Giving presentations and briefings on cybersecurity measures.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Troubleshooting and maintaining cybersecurity operating systems and software applications.

Education

Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
OR
Have successfully completed 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
