Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine: Department of Bioengineering

The George Mason University Department of Bioengineering, within the Volgenau School of Engineering, has an opening for a postdoctoral research fellowship for a Ph.D. graduate in Laboratory of Biomaterials and Nanomedicine at the Institute of Advanced Biomedical Research at George Mason University. The laboratory is investigating innate immune responses to biomaterials in healthy and unhealthy patient cohorts in order to develop novel biomarker diagnostics in the areas of orthopedic trauma and cancer.

IABR is located on the Science and Technology campus of George Mason University in Manassas Virginia (https://scitechcampus.gmu.edu/) and is part of the greater Washington DC area. The laboratory collaborates with the Fairfax INOVA hospital and surrounding research facilities. Responsibilities: The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team to develop novel bioassays of diagnostic biomarkers, and will be responsible for: * Interacting with clinical coordinators and preparing clinical test samples; * Performing blood coagulation assays using a Thromboelastograph; * Using cutting-edge proteomics, genomics, and lipidomics to analyze immune biomarkers in human clinical test samples, as well as biostatistical data analysis and interpretation; and * Drafting and publishing manuscripts, presenting data at meeting, grant writing.

Required Qualifications: Candidates who have earned a doctorate in Molecular Cell Biology, Systems Biology, Immunology, Biomedical engineering, or a closely related field are encouraged to apply for this position; and Applicants must have an earned a doctorate by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with relevant experience and expertise in areas related to the research activities described above; Applicants who have already obtained a doctorate at the time of application; and Individuals with a U.S. driver's license.
