Coordinator, Office of Management and Organization (M&O) Position Number: 104839 Full-Time, Regular Exempt

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Coordinator to join the Management and Organization Academic Department (M&O). One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, The Economist and the Wall Street Journal.

The primary responsibility of the Coordinator will be to focus on overseeing the administrative programmatic activities of the department. The position will plan, oversee and work independently to carry out the logistics for the Cross Disciplinary Seminar Series and other departmental speaker series, including scheduling visiting faculty and communication and arrangements. The position will assist faculty to include travel plans, scheduling meetings, preparation of course materials, and manuscript preparation. The position will manage administrative and event planning duties for the Smith Entrepreneurship Conference as needed with other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor degree or equivalent experience and 3-4 years related administrative experience to include planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing assignments without detailed instruction. Strong interpersonal, teamwork, customer service, communication, and stress tolerance skills. Ability to effectively interact with a variety of individuals at all levels inside and outside of the Smith School (e.g., Faculty, Students, Staff, Top Management, Campus/Corporate Officials, Alumni, etc.). Ability to collaborate with others as needed to achieve desired results; ability to gather, analyze, and summarize information; experience at effectively composing and proofreading a variety of correspondence, documents, or reports. Takes the initiative to find information as needed to solve problems; willingness to speak up and offer novel ideas for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Management and Organization Department. A self-starter with a strong learning orientation and flexibility; ability and willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed; practices faculty, staff, and student confidentiality at all times. Preferences: Computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

The salary range for this position will be low to mid $50’s. The University also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 22 Days Annual Leave; 15 Days Sick Leave; 3 Days Personal Leave; 15 Paid Holidays; Tuition Remission; Health, Dental, Vision and Prescription coverage.
