Responsibilities

As a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN/NETWORK) at the GS-2210-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Perform a variety of tasks to include managing, supervising, leading, administering, developing, planning, delivering and supporting communications and information technology (IT) systems and services to JIDO elements and forwarded deployed operational field teams.
  • Redefine the principles, responsibilities, planning, and execution for information and technology support of the mission.
  • Identify the means to leverage opportunities that ensure the most timely, efficient and effective use of IT to support the DTRA/JIDO mission.
  • Develop functional and technical guidance and system oversight objectives.
  • Lead the efforts to identify user requirements, evaluate technology, develop program budget guidance, monitor acquisitions and management, and ensures compliance of IT systems with applicable guidance.
  • Monitor and acts as the primary staff expert for the coordination and integration of technology infrastructure for automation and communication.
  • Serve as the Supervisory IT Specialist for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency/JIDO Mission Enclave Support Branch, under the direct supervision of the JIDO, Mission Enterprise and Information Technology Division Chief.
  • Recommend enhancements to effectiveness, efficiency, and security of information systems.
  • Identify essential and desirable operating capabilities, translating these into performance requirements for communication and automation hardware and software.
  • Maintain an open, continuous process of review and evaluation of new technologies.
  • Act as the functional manager of all communications and IT within DTRA/JID0, supporting the geographically dispersed JIDO mission.

Qualifications

For all 2210 positions, individuals must demonstrate they have experience in each of the four competencies listed below; the experience does not have to be IT-related. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. You may qualify at the GS- 14 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Developing, operating and maintenance of the Advanced Technologies Application Center (ATAC) Network providing services in the following areas: Network Operations, Operations Support, Systems Integration, and Systems Design.
  • Serving as a Customer Relations Manager and Information Sharing Integrator.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Additional information

Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI access based on a Special Background Investigation (SBI).

This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions Identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) and must pass urinalysis testing, as required, prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450.

TDY is 10 percent. Incumbent must be able to travel/deploy worldwide, including high-risk areas and combat zones. Occasional travel to the COCOM areas of operation is possible.
