POSITION DESCRIPTION:In 2011 Jubilee Housing opened the Re-entry Housing Initiative which is a transitional housing program for justice involved) DC residents returning from incarceration. We currently operate two homes in the Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights neighborhoods, one for men and one for women. We are currently seeking a National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) Certified Addiction Counselor II to aid the program in providing critical alcohol and other drug abuse recovery supports for the men and women in our program. REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: This position will work collaboratively as a member of the Re-entry Housing Initiative team and will report to the Program Director.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * In collaboration with the Case Manager conduct screening interviews to determine the need for a drug and alcohol assessments and for emergent care services in the specific areas of detoxification and mental health care; make referrals to appropriate health and human services agencies as needed based on the outcome of the screening interview.* Conduct confidential, quality assessments, that are gender-responsive and trauma informed, using the appropriate level of care; assessments may be conducted in the community, Jubilee Offices or during screenings and interviews within the DC Department of Corrections and the Federal Bureau of Prison facilities.* Use strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches to work collaboratively with residents, Jubilee Housing team members, and internal and external entities to assist in supporting residents in their recovery process.* Provide clinical consultation to referral sources, and other entities to assist in supporting residents in their recovery.* Work closely with residents to access the appropriate level of care.* Collect and review referral information upon assignment of residents from referral sources and consult with others as needed to support coordination of services and scheduling of resident interviews.* Based on assessments, make referrals to the most appropriate programs and agencies in an effort to assist residents in accessing the right level of supports to best meet their needs.* Work cooperatively with the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) and other community based organizations to ensure coordination of services and compliance.* Complete paperwork requirements and maintain quality, up-to-date clinical records.* Consult with Program Director, and other program team members to ensure quality assurance for resident care.* Maintain a working knowledge of other drug and alcohol treatment agencies and programs, and a list of resources that can be shared with residents.* Provide psycho-educational groups to residents, the team and organization as needed to ensure that all parties are abreast of changing trends in the area of drug and alcohol abuse. * Participate in all assigned meetings, staff development, and training as required.* Provide back-up assistance to program team members as needed.* Other duties as assigned DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Addictions Counselor II, required.Master's degree in Social Work or Human Services and four years of experience in an alcohol or other drug or mental health setting preferred.Personal recovery experience not required, however, knowledge of recovery support systems and 12-Step program required.Combination of comparable skills, experience, and education.Experience working with individuals who are or have been justice involved (returning citizens).Understanding and supportive of a trauma-informed system of care.Strong interpersonal, engagement, organizational and time-management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong computer skills required.Ability to support the organization's mission and philosophy, and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and organizational harmony.Value for and the ability to deliver excellent resident services.Self-directed and flexible with the ability to meet the needs of the program and the residents.Salary and Benefits:Salary is commensurate with experience.Benefits include health, vision, and dental insurance, STD, LTD, and Life insurances, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, transportation stipend and a matched contribution retirement plan.To Apply:Please email your resume, a cover letter, and include why you would be an ideal candidate for this position, and how you learned of this position to ksharps@jubileehousing.org.
