Overview Certified Peer Counselor Supervisors provide direct supervision and therapeutic support to peers, collaborating with clinical partners to support the assessment of youth safety in the home and community. Peer Counselor Supervisors have an essential role in safety management for the youth and families served, having responsibility to supervise peers in their assessment and support of at-risk youth in their homes. Peer Counselor supervisors work with family and youth peers to provide clinical training and quality assurance for all peer services including: advocacy for youth needs, assisting youth in verbalizing areas of physical and emotional risk and communicating those risks to their clinical team. Peer Counselor Supervisors collaborate with the clinical teams to understand peer support and help facilitate services for families receiving behavioral health services. Peer Counselor supervisors provide oversight to Parent and Youth Partners to include coaching and support in the field, regular supervision of Peer role on interventions, and provide regular, ongoing supervision of the Peer team with includes responding to staff trauma due to the high needs nature of the work. Peer Counselor Supervisors are responsible for ensuring peer documentation is in compliance with Medicaid and that each service encounter provided by peer staff is documented according to Medicaid standards and entered into an Electronic Health Record within mandated timeframes. Peer Counselor supervisors work as a team member with other agency, system and community partners including Behavioral Health Organizations and community mental health teams. Peer Counselor Supervisors continue to help parents and youth voice their own perspective and assure other team members are able to understand that perspective, as well as, ensuring this occurs for the Peers they oversee. They represent a peer orientation and perspective in all internal and external agency activities. They are an integral part of the leadership team, actively participating in leadership activities. They represent peer voice and CCS Family Behavioral Health values in the organization and community. Responsibilities * Oversee/Supervise team of Peer Counselors serving in high risk behavioral health interventions (families). * Provide support for safety by Identifying high-risk, clinically complex circumstances involving the Peer Counselors and notify necessary stakeholders (Clinical Supervisor, Manager/Director). Provide peer supervision to assess acuity and immediate risk/need and with clinical team, determine the most appropriate response. * In collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor, Therapist, Peers and other key team members, consult and determine the role and participation of a Peer involvement with a family. * Directly supervise peer staff in the safety planning process by providing staff support to share vital information in the safety assessment of children youth and their families by providing consultation, assessment, and support to therapists and clinical supervisors involved with high-risk, difficult to engage clinical situations. * Orient peer staff to their role in behavioral health service provision; provide training in the work and value of the Peer role to clinicians, leadership members, and community partners. * Directly support engagement of youth and families in behavioral health services, must be highly skilled at connecting story as a former consumer of mental health service with clinical treatment, supervise Peers in this activity and ensure Peer's ability to communicate their position to the family and the clinical team. * Assess and review the Peer Partner's behavioral health role in the clinical treatment of a child or youth, ensure work and documentation is consistent with the youth's identified diagnosis and treatment goal. * Supervise Peers to assess service activities and therapeutic options for families they serve that will contribute to their healing and support and assist the peer to communicate that information to the treatment team. * As part of the clinical treatment team, review and analyze the Treatment plan and make suggestions for improvement/ modifications related to peer participation. Assure Therapist is contacted for coordination of behavioral health care with peer supports when needed. * Provide leadership for peers to actively participate in team meetings when needed and ensure family voice is heard throughout their therapeutic intervention. . * Actively participate as part of the Site Clinical Leadership Team, including attending weekly consultation and clinical treatment team reviews. * Provide hands on field coaching and mentoring to Peers, including responding to crisis situations whenever needed. * Serve as Peer Counselor in higher risk/more complex clinical interventions. * Provide community leadership for peer led recovery services by actively working in the community to articulate the peer role in community meetings and with important stakeholders * Attend peer supervisor, community, mental health and on-going trainings on an as-needed basis. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Certified Peer Counselor Credential (per WAC 388-865-0107). * Lived experience as youth who was involved in the mental health or other child-serving systems/Parent of a special-needs child who has been a recipient of community services within the past five years. * Age 21 or older per DSHS requirements. * High school diploma/GED. * At least 1 year of experience providing peer support services. * Demonstrated ability to assess and respond in crisis situations. * Leadership qualities/ demonstrated leadership ability. * Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license and automobile insurance. * Pass background check through DSHS and Washington State Patrol. * Availability to work flexible hours (evenings, nights, weekends). * Proof of negative TB test within past 12 months. * Washington State Counselor Registration (HIV/AIDS training required). * Must have an acceptable driving record per CCS' driving policy (required to provide current driving abstract). * To teach de-escalation skills as well as or to respond in person, as needed. * Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication. * Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. * Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing services. * Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * A. or BA in social sciences, social services or mental health field background. * Three years relevant experience with social services and mental health agencies to working with people who need assistance.
