Position summary: SIR is seeking an early-career website manager to oversee the society's day-to-day website operations and service relationship with a third-party website vendor. This is an excellent role for someone with the requisite website skills and experience coupled with strong interpersonal skills and an interest in tools and technologies that facilitate web-based storytelling, education and learning. Responsibilities include ongoing website maintenance, planning and development in accord with SIR's brand and content strategies. The individual will liaise between staff, IT and SIR's external web vendor to identify and fulfill ongoing website requirements and will collaborate with staff to plan for website development and growth based on the SIR's strategic plan. The website manager will report to the Director of Marketing and will work closely with SIR's Director of IT and other staff as needed based on project requirements. Principal responsibilities Works with the Director of Marketing to coordinate activities with our third-party website provider that enhance and evolve SIR's website according to staff and organizational need. Works with staff and the communications department to facilitate the organization's plan and vision for the website in relation to the SIR Strategic Plan. Work closely with staff to assist in the development of website scope of work, estimates, and timetables to complete projects on-time and within budget. Monitor managed services' hours and retainer fees. Manage the web-development activities and resolve technical problems and enhancements. Undergoes intensive training in the organization's CMS in order to troubleshoot and assist staff when issues arise. Be aware of when it's appropriate to call in the website managed services provider. Provide support for staff onboarding: Create staff account in the CMS, provide one hour of one-on-one training in CMS and ongoing support as needed. Secondary Functions and Responsibilities Keeps current on website technology and products provided by the managed services provider, the CMS partner and other industry resources. Attends workshops and webinars, as necessary. Assists marketing with the review of site statistics and analytics. Work closely with the marketing manager to ensure that all image placement guidelines are met through correct image resizing and storage in CMS assets. Work with the marketing director to ensure that staff are adhering to website style and that staff-driven content remains on brand. Recommend efficiency measures for storage of web assets, organization and logistics. Knowledge, skills and abilities Effective project management skills and the ability to complete projects on time and within budget Ability to work well with and train staff in a customer service capacity. A basic knowledge of html is desirable. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and other activities that feed information to the website Working knowledge of Photoshop or other image-processing software Attention to detail, creativity and basic knowledge of information technology Communication skills (including ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written communication; understand and follow written and oral instructions) Time management skills Problem solving skills (including ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner)
