About The Position The Staff Accountant will play an important part in supporting Digital Promises mission to spur innovation in education for all learners. Digital Promise has experienced explosive growth in the last few years with over five-fold increases in both our revenue and operating budget. This growth has resulted in increased complexity in both our payables and receivables, as well as the allocation of staff time and other resources across projects and grants. The staff accountant position offers an opportunity for a dynamic professional to become a key member of Digital Promises operations team and contribute to and manage this financial growth. Responsibilities Accurate and timely recording of personnel-related transactions (wages, retirement funds, benefits, etc.) Review the accuracy of all payables and receivables and prepares adjusting/necessary journal entries as required. Manage Digital Promises receivables, from invoice creation to payment collection and reconciliation. Regularly monitor cash inflows and outflows from accounts, preparing monthly account analysis and reviews account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness. Prepare monthly reconciliations. Prepare regular reconciliations of budgets to actual expenditures and assist in the coding of all expenses and staff time to grants and across programs. Generate necessary internal and external financial reports required by management and mandated by external funding sources at their designated due dates. Work across the organization to support invoicing procedures for Digital Promises growing number of federal awards and commercial contracts. Ensure accurate recordation of charges and reconciliation of charges across two independent 501(c)(3) organizations - Digital Promise and Digital Promise Global. Assists with the preparation of forward looking financial projections Assists with the annual audit. Qualifications Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or equivalent degree. 3+ years relevant work experience Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions. Knowledge of accounting software, preferably Quickbooks desktop. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A passion for education, a team mentality, creativity, and a positive can-do yes-and spirit. Compensation Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.
