The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) is seeking a Network & Security Administrator to join the Information Security and Networking Services (ISNS) team. Located on the Johns Hopkins University campus in Baltimore, MD, STScI is the science operations center for the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and the science and mission operations center for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), scheduled to launch in spring 2021. Your Role & Responsibilities: STScI's network infrastructure provides the foundation for the scientific and space mission support that STScI provides to the astronomical community. You support security, network, system, and cloud operations to advance our capabilities to meet the current and future needs of STScI and its missions. This position will report to the ISNS Branch Manager and will provide primary security and network support for our AWS environment. Responsibilities include: You provide Security and Network guidance and support for STScI's AWS infrastructure You work with IT, vendors and STScI staff to monitor and maintain network and security infrastructure You assist in daily maintenance and problem resolution. Serve as a resource for trouble ticket support You provide project support for new network and security initiatives You modify and update the configuration for all network and security infrastructure devices You work in a collaborative team environment, sharing all knowledge and skills with other team members You review, audit, and support all networking and security systems Your Experience, Skills and Qualifications: You have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of progressive technical expertise in IT system, security, and/or network administration, preferably in an AWS environment. You have hands-on experience with: Supporting AWS environments Linux and/or Windows System administration Managing and troubleshooting firewalls (Check Point preferred) and network devices (Cisco preferred) Troubleshooting using various tools (such as command line, packet capturing) Industry standard authentication systems (such as AD, Cisco ISE, multi-factor authentication) You have knowledge of: Cryptographic/PKI solutions Networking Protocols (EIGRP, CDP, IPSec, OSPF, etc.) ITIL and project management practices Certifications such as AWS (Foundational, Associate or Professional), Network+, Security+ and/or CCNA are a plus Excellent customer service, documentation and communication skills This position requires access to ITAR regulated material and qualified applicants must be a US citizen or permanent resident To Apply: Share your experience by completing an on-line application.
