Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance in the Ozone Depleting Substances production area associated with the refurbishment of various sizes of compressed gas cylinders.
  • Provides assistance with the modification on parts for refrigerators, gas compressed cylinders, tubing, and metal parts of the appliances, dust piping, metal food Item parts, field safe parts and ovens, recovery units, and cylinder devalving machines
  • Replaces broken or excessively worn parts, such as cutting dies, springs, copper tubing, temperature indicators valves, and wiring.
  • Operates a combo of mobile and stationary equip such as portable industrial equip, abrasive blasters machinery, power tools, electrical vacuum pumps, pneumatic driven systems, refrigerant recovery and recycling equip, and cylinder valving machines.
  • Operates various conventional hand tools, shears, banding tools band cutter, and portable electrical tools.

To qualify for a General Equipment Repairer, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and you have the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Physical Effort: Incumbent frequently handles objects weighing up to 45 pounds and occasionally carries objects weighing 45 pounds or more for considerable distance. Required to push, pull, reach, walk, stand, kneel, bend, and climb for substantial period of time.

Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside exposing the incumbent to the prevailing weather conditions, excessive noises, and intermittent slippery or uneven surface. Incumbent is constantly exposed to moving objects, elevations, and sharp edges with the possibility of cuts and bruises, grease, dirt and dampness frequently encountered. When assisting painter, employee wears all protective clothing and equipment that is sometimes uncomfortable.
