The Histotechnologist performs histology laboratory testing, other lab functions and duties for inpatients and outpatients according to Laboratory policy and procedures. They perform quality control and maintenance procedures in accordance with standard operating procedures and participate in Laboratory Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Initiatives. They perform and document all aspects of routine histology procedures in an efficient and superior manner, that may include:
•Microtomy
•Embedding
•Special stains
•Routine staining
•Quality control functions
•Performs periodic maintenance and troubleshoots instruments as needed
•Verify and distribution of slides
•Non specimen GYN Preparations
•Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule:

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
  • Minimum of High School Diploma, preferred 1-2 years working in a pathology environment or AS/BS in science related field.
  • Well-organized, thorough and conscientious approach in performing duties.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve day to day conflicts/problems in a professional manner.
  • Ability to be detailed oriented.


Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2am - 10:30am
