The Director of IT Systems & Data Management plays an important leadership role within the Information Technology team and is responsible for strategically and operationally managing the organization's database systems and underlying data. This includes all activities related to the design, planning, implementation and administration of the enterprise association management system (netFORUM) as well as data collection, storage management (on prem and in the cloud), governance and visualization/reporting. It is a hands-on management role that necessitates a balance between leading and mentoring team members and leveraging technical expertise. In addition to technical acumen, it requires strong analytical skills, a commitment to delivering quality solutions on time and on budget, excellent communications and collaboration skills and a curiosity for new insights and opportunities. Responsibilities netFORUM (AMS) Management * Lead all activities related to the design, planning, implementation and administration of ACOG's enterprise association management system (AMS) and related solutions, including upgrade planning and patch management, systems testing and QA, backup and recovery * Serve as a subject matter expert for database development, database programming, and data standards relating to the AMS * Set strategic direction for the AMS by monitoring the development and direction of the vendor's product platform, new technologies and direction of the association industry * Lead, promote and ensure proper AMS system integration across the spectrum of in-house and 3rd party solutions * Participate and provide leadership in the analysis and resolution of data systems issues - working with internal staff and key business partners * Guide and assist key stakeholders in proper use, management, configuration of the system in accordance with ACOG's business practices * Advocate for association management solutions and organizational data Technical * Provide hand's-on database management support including database installations, configuration, upgrades, data recovery and technical support * Establish and adhere to standards which maintain database integrity, availability, and restorability * Seek opportunities to optimize database performance, automate recurring or redundant database tasks, and evaluate new database technologies * Guide systems architecture, interface design and programming languages involved with integrating database solutions with other systems and contribute to design discussions in a cross-functional project setting * Serve as the lead for data security, providing guidance for standards and best practices while overseeing ACOG's data compliance (PCI & GDPR) Business Analysis/Project Management * Interface directly with stakeholders and business owners in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, and support cost-effective technology solutions that are in alignment with stakeholder priorities * Accountable for ensuring that the business objectives of the AMS come to reality in the solution that is configured and successfully deployed to end users by leveraging strong business analysis and project management skills * Oversee prioritization of change requests, resource allocations and delivery of solutions * Collaborate with other Information Technology teams and business partners * Continually analyze existing systems and processes to identify areas for improvement * Understand key business drivers of the organization and contribute to their success Data & Data Visualization * Provide leadership for ACOG's data management, data governance, vendor and product data integration which includes: + developing and maintaining a data management strategic roadmap + promoting data-driven decision-making throughout the organization + direction for building and populating data structures that enable analytics and reporting solutions + managing the daily activities of the team responsible for the delivery of data analytics and reporting - primarily from the cloud-based data warehouse and related data repositories + hands-on experience with ETL, SQL query/reporting and data visualization tools + fostering the organization's data governance program -- directing interdepartmental data stewards and providing management oversight of the data governance council Team Leadership * Supervise direct reports, consultants, and business partners in support of the team's activities, ensuring quality, timely delivery and effectiveness of business solutions * Mentor and coach direct reports, conduct performance appraisals, assist in career goals and training plans * Manage and resolve competing demands, remove roadblocks, appropriately handle sensitive situations, and address conflicts Qualifications * Bachelor's degree required * Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience; minimum of 5 years leading/managing employees * 3+ years' experience managing an enterprise data system (preferably an association management system) * 3+ years' experience data administration * 5+ years of hands-on experience writing SQL queries and producing reports * 2+ years' experience with data visualization tools (ie PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) * Proficiency in programming (ie Java, C++/C#, etc.) * 5+ years of People Management experience About ACOG Home to more than 58,000 women's health care professionals, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) is a membership organization leading advancements in women's health.
