Minimum Qualifications :

Education
  • High school diploma or possession of a general equivalency diploma (GED)

Experience
  • Five (5) years of experience in one of the following engineering disciplines; mechanical, electrical, or electronics and
  • Two (2) years of training and technical work experience in a relevant applied engineering area which demonstrates a high degree of proficiency in performing maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation inspections on escalators and/or elevators is also required

Certification/Licensure
  • Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) Certification from the National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities (NAESA) or equivalent QEI-1 certification recognized in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued from the jurisdiction of residence

Preferred
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering disciplines
      • OR
    • Associate's degree in Construction technology, Associate of Applied Science Degree in Management of Construction
  • Experience
    • Two (2) years of managerial experience.

Job Summary:

The Supervisor, Contractor Inspections (ELES) is responsible for daily oversight, supervision, coordination and facilitation of various contractors maintaining, repairing, and replacing Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)'s elevators and escalators. The incumbent is responsible for assignments of a very detailed and time-sensitive nature and ensures that all necessary equipment, parts and supplies required for elevator escalator modification, repair or replacement contracts are furnished and installed in a manner to meet both industry, jurisdictional and WMATA standards. The Supervisor, Contractor Inspections (ELES) ensures contracted work directly supports the elevator and escalator maintenance plan and goals of the Authority's in-house maintenance program and that work is completed on time and in compliance with contract specifications.
